CellarVision ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data when you use the CellarVision mobile application ("App") and website at cellarvision.app ("Website"), collectively the "Service."

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information: Email address and password when you create an account
• Waitlist information: First name, last name, email address, and collection size when you join the waitlist
• Cellar data: Wine bottle details (producer, varietal, vintage, region, tasting notes, photos), zone configurations, and location notes
• Forwarded emails: Order confirmation emails you forward to our ingestion address for automatic inventory tracking
• Photos: Wine label images you capture through the App

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: App interactions, feature usage patterns, and error logs
• Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version
• Subscription status: Your current plan and billing status (managed by Apple)

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide the Service: Store and organize your cellar data, process label scans, generate AI tasting notes and food pairings, estimate market values, and track drink windows
• Email ingestion: Parse forwarded order emails to extract wine order information and add it to your pending inventory
• Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns to fix bugs, improve features, and enhance the user experience
• Shared catalog: Wine identification data (producer, wine name, vintage, tasting notes) may be stored in a shared catalog to improve identification accuracy for all users. This data is not linked to your account.
• Communications: Send transactional emails (welcome, milestones) and waitlist updates. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.

3. AI Processing

When you scan a wine label or request AI-generated content, your photos and wine data are sent to third-party AI services (Anthropic Claude) for processing. These services process your data according to their own privacy policies. We send only the minimum data necessary for the specific AI task.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase (powered by PostgreSQL) with encryption at rest and in transit. Label images are stored in Supabase Storage. We implement row-level security policies to ensure you can only access your own data.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers: Supabase (hosting/database), Anthropic (AI processing), Resend (transactional email), RevenueCat (subscription management), Apple (App Store/payments)
• Legal requirements: When required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights
• Shared wine catalog: De-identified wine data (not linked to your account) may be shared in a catalog that benefits all users

6. Your Rights & Choices

• Access & export: You can export your cellar data at any time through the App
• Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at support@cellarvision.app
• Email opt-out: You can unsubscribe from non-transactional emails at any time
• Waitlist removal: Contact us to remove your information from the waitlist

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).

Waitlist data is retained until you request removal or until we no longer need it for its stated purpose.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for anyone under the legal drinking age (21 in the United States). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

9. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
